Privacy Policy

1. Controller and contact
CatDex is operated by CatDex. For personal data requests, contact privacy@catdex.app; for general assistance, contact support@catdex.app.
2. Data we process
- Photos captured or selected to create a discovery.
- Visual descriptions, corrections, discovery names, generated cards, progress, XP, missions, and achievements.
- Account and sign-in identity data when Apple, Google, or another available method is used.
- Discovery location only with explicit permission; no continuous or background location.
- Technical data required for security, reliability, advertising consent, and in-app purchases.
3. Purposes and legal bases
We process data to provide the app, store and synchronize collections when enabled, perform requested analysis and card generation, manage accounts, support, security, advertising consent, and purchases. Depending on the activity, the legal basis may be performance of the service, consent, legal obligations, or legitimate interests in security and reliability.
4. Photos and AI-assisted analysis
Photos may be processed locally and, when required by a requested feature, uploaded to cloud infrastructure and provided to analysis services through protected references. CatDex uses a server-side AI-assisted visual analysis function, currently based on Google Gemini services when configured. Analysis can be inaccurate and users can correct results before saving. The feature is not intended to identify people.
5. Providers and recipients
- Supabase: authentication, database, storage, and server functions when cloud features are enabled.
- Apple and Google: account sign-in and platform services.
- Google Gemini: requested AI-assisted image analysis.
- RevenueCat and Apple App Store/Google Play: Premium status, offerings, purchases, and restore when enabled.
- Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform: ads and consent collection when ads are enabled.
6. Advertising and Premium
Ads depend on the app version, UMP consent, platform, and Premium status. Premium users should not receive ads. CatDex does not sell subscriptions on this website; pricing, billing period, and renewal are communicated by the store.
7. Location
Location is optional and requested in the context of saving a discovery. CatDex does not request “Always” location, track movement, or use location for advertising or profiling. You can deny or revoke permission in device settings.
8. Retention and security
We retain data as needed to provide the service, protect accounts, comply with legal duties, and handle requests. Local copies remain on the device until removed by the user or app. Access controls, temporary links, and ownership rules reduce unauthorized access; no system can guarantee absolute security.
9. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers should rely on adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, or another lawful mechanism.
10. Your rights and controls
- Access, correction, deletion, restriction, and objection where applicable.
- Data portability where applicable; the app includes a local game-data export.
- Withdrawal of consent without affecting earlier processing.
- A complaint to the competent supervisory authority.
- Controls for photos, location, advertising consent, and permissions in app and device settings.
11. Account deletion
Remote account deletion availability depends on the published app version and server configuration. Deleting a CatDex account does not automatically cancel a store subscription; subscriptions must be managed through Apple or Google settings. Contact support using the channel on this page.
12. Children
CatDex is not designed to knowingly collect data from children below the applicable minimum age without required consent. Contact us if you believe a child provided data improperly.
13. Updates
This policy may change to reflect features, providers, or legal requirements. The effective date appears above, and material changes will be communicated appropriately.
